Challenger Baseball!

Will played his first baseball game today! The Andover Little League has a great program called "Challenger" where kids of all abilities can participate. Each week one of the other teams stays after their game and the kids act as "buddies" for our kids.

Here's Will playing second base, with his Buddy Prakeem. As every batter came up, his buddy would say "get ready, this one might come right to you!". The coaches would "help along" some of the hits, and Will got a few ground balls. "Good job Will," as the buddy scoops up the ball and hands it to Will, "now throw it to first base!" Once all the red-shirt Red Sox had a turn to bat (ending with a base-clearing home run), then the blue-shirt Red Sox had a turn to bat (yep, both teams are the Red Sox, of course :)
Will got up to bat and laid down a solid ground ball for a single. Two batters later, the last batter up hit a base-clearing home run, so Will got to go all the way from second base, to third, then to home for a run! Woohoo! It was a great game - everybody had fun, and we can't wait until next time!
ps - Ok, Kim, now I've blogged something. So don't delete me yet! :)
